How do I configure my email program or mobile device to use your POP Email service?
Note: These configuration settings are for the POP / IMAP email that is attached to the domain account. These settings will not apply if you are using the POP / IMAP email that is attached to the website hosting account. For how to configure an email program or mobile device when using the POP / IMAP email that is attached to the website hosting account on mywebhostingaccount.com, see the article: Access Webmail or Configure Email Program from cPanel
Note: For different options on how you can use your purchased POP / IMAP email, see the article: Options For How To Use POP / IMAP Email
To configure an email program (e.g., Outlook, Mac Mail) or mobile device (e.g., iPhone, Android Device) to use our POP Email service, please use the following settings:
Account Type/Protocol:
Our email service is compatible with POP3 and IMAP. The main difference between POP3 and IMAP is that with IMAP, all the email messages stay on the server. With POP3, messages are downloaded and stored locally on your email program/computer. IMAP is the preferred if you're using multiple devices to check your email.
IMAP
Username: your full email address
Password: your email password
Inbound and outbound mail server hostname: mail.name-services.com
The ports can be left blank to use the default values. However, if you need them:
- Inbound port: SSL: 993 | Non-SSL: 143
- Outbound SMTP port: SSL: 465 | Non-SSL: 25 or 587
Note: We recommend IMAP (not POP) as messages with IMAP are stored on the server which provides better syncing with multiple devices. We also recommend enabling SSL for better login security.
POP
Username: your full email address
Password: your email password
Inbound and outbound mail server hostname: mail.name-services.com
The ports can be left blank to use the default values. However, if you need them:
- Inbound port: SSL: 995 | Non-SSL: 110
- Outbound SMTP port: SSL: 465 | Non-SSL: 25 or 587
Notes:
- When adding an email account on a Mac (Mac Mail), you may encounter the message "unable to verify account name or password" after putting in the email address and password. This is normal. At this point, you can enter the incoming and outgoing servers, and the process should proceed successfully.
- We recommend enabling SSL for better login security
