Web Hosting: Export Emails from cPanel

Modified on Sun, 8 Sep at 8:41 AM

In the cPanel webmail, you can export individual emails as .eml files by selecting the email, then at the top clicking "More", then clicking "Export". However in the cPanel webmail, you are not able to export all emails at one time.

To export multiple or all emails, you can sign in to the email address from an email program such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook. Most of the time, the automatic settings will work, so you will only need to put in your email address and password when signing in. But if settings need to be configured manually, you can refer to this HelpDesk article for those settings: Access Webmail or Configure Email Program from cPanel

In Microsoft Outlook, you can export email as a .pst file, which is a proprietary Microsoft file extension, which can then be imported onto another account in Outlook to view.

In Mozilla Thunderbird, you can export email as .eml files, which is the universal email file format. You can view the raw text of these .eml files in a simple text editor like Microsoft Notebook or the equivalent on a Mac. You can also import the .eml files into another email program to view them in their regular email format.
