DNS - TTL for host records when using our nameservers (dns1-5.name-services.com)

Answer ID 842

How many seconds/minutes is our Time To Live (TTL)?  Can I change the TTL for my domain's host records on your nameservers?

If you are using our nameservers (dns1-5.name-services.com) the TTL (time to live) will be set at 3600 seconds (1 hour).

This means that our nameservers will advise any DNS resolver to cache your domain's host records every hour.  Please note, however, that TTL is only an advisory record.  In reality, many recursive DNS servers cache DNS results for longer periods of time.

A certain TTL can be requested by creating a HelpDesk ticket or contacting us via email. Make sure to include the domain name in question as the new TTL requested.

Note that the TTL is reset back to 3600 after changes are made to the host records.
