Wordpress can be installed on our Linux Hosting Servers via two methods:

  4. Click Install for the selected Application.
  5. Read and Agree to the terms of service.
  6. Fill in the form to create your Wordpress preferences.
    a. Select "Document Root" if you wish to install Wordpress on the Root domain name.
    b. The Administrator's Preference is used when accessing the Wordpress Control Panel. Make sure you write this down.
  7. Click Install.

You can manage your Wordpress Site via "example.com/wp-admin", where example.com is your domain name.

Installing Wordpress by uploading installation files via FTP:

  1. In the Plesk Control Panel, go to the "Website and Domains" tab.
  2. Click "Databases" under the specific domain name.
  3. Click on "Add Database".
  4. Create a Database name, and record this for your information (make sure to include the prefix in front of the name you entered).
  5. Create a database username and password. Make sure you record this information as well.
  6. Click "OK".

Once you have your Wordpress installation files downloaded from http://www.wordpress.org, connect via FTP to upload your Wordpress files to the httpdocs folder (or folder where website is stored).

*For instructions on connecting to FTP, please refer to the Article: "Upload Files to Web Hosting Account".

Once the files have been uploaded, follow the steps below to begin Installation:

  1. Via a browser, go to [your domain]/wp-admin/install.php, for example: www.example.com/wp-admin/install.php
  2. Follow the installation process to create your configuration file.
  3. You will be asked for the following information:
    a. Database Name: The database name you created in step 4 above.
    b. Database User Name: The username you created in Step 7 Above.
    c. Database Password: The Password Created in Step 7.
    d. Database Host: mysqldb3.ehost-services.com.
    e. Prefix: You don't need to change this unless you know you have to.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. You will then be instructed to create an admin username and password. This will be used to access your Wordpress Admin Panel.
  6. Follow the steps to complete installation.
