How do I upload files to my web hosting account?

Before uploading your files, please follow the instructions in the article, "Web Hosting: Associate Domain Name with Hosting Account".  After that has been completed, please follow the below instructions.

Option 1 - Upload Files via FTP

  • Download and install an FTP client.
    • Filezilla, is a popular and free client.
  • Log onto the FTP server.  You will need the FTP hostname, username, and password.
    • To find this information, open the hosting account control panel (see "Web Hosting: How to Access the Control Panel").
    • For Linux hosting, follow this path:
      • Click Home on the left side.
      • Click Account Info at the bottom.
      • FTP Server address (URL) is listed at the top of the page.  This is the FTP hostname.
      • The FTP username and password was set when the domain was created in the Plesk Panel.  If you need to reset the username and password, please see the instructions in the article, "Web Hosting: Change FTP Username and Password for Linux Hosting".
      • Use FTP protocol. Disable any encryption like "TLS"
  • Upload files.
    • For Linux hosting, httpdocs is the root directory for your domain (httpsdocs for SSL content).

Option 2 - Upload Files via the File Manager

Note: This method can only be used to upload files one at a time.

  • Open the hosting account control panel (see "Web Hosting: How to Access the Control Panel").
  • For Linux hosting, follow this path:
    • Click Domains on the left.
    • Click on domain name.
    • Click on File Manager.
    • Click on the httpdocs (or httpsdocs for SSL content).
    • Click on Add New File or Add New Directory.
    • Follow prompts.
